It is home to our Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Football Teams, Youth Academy, Old Boys and Social Team.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>RAMBLERS CHRONICLE <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1945<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Club is formed by Neil Greeff who is the first captain and plays its first game in Okahandja.<br \/>\nA group of gentlemen who worked for Standard Bank who did not want to play Rugby at &#8220;Wanderers&#8221;<br \/>\nformed a Football Club and adopted the name &#8220;Ramblers&#8221; instead.<br \/>\nThe coat of arms with the simple word \u201cAequitas\u201d as motto was adopted soon thereafter.<br \/>\nAequitas is the Latin word for FAIR PLAY.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1949<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Men&#8217;s Hockey Section was formed<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1957<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Formation of Baseball\/Softball section<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1967<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ladies Hockey Section was formed<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1970-1971<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">After winning several league titles in SWA, Ramblers now plays in the Second Division of the SA National Soccer League.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1972<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The first team of Ramblers together with Talpark and Cohen FC is transformed into a professional football club &#8211;<br \/>\nWindhoek City &#8211; with the objective of attaining promotion into the First Division of the SA National Soccer League.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1973<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A few players part ways with Windhoek City and enter a Ramblers team in the 1st League of SWA again.<br \/>\nThe first soccer tour to Angola is undertaken under the leadership of Manuel Coelho.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1975<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers wins the Georges Cup for a record 12th time. This is the last year that this historical cup dating<br \/>\nback to 1916 is played.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1978<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The club grounds are acquired in Pionierspark<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1981<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The first soccer field is taken into use in Pionierspark.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>28.11.1981<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Club House is inaugurated by the Mayor of Windhoek.<br \/>\n(in previous years the old Hotel Kaiserkrone, a hall at the show grounds, the M&amp;Z Caf\u00e9<br \/>\nas well as an old house in the Southern Industrial Area served as unoffical club house)<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1981<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Bertus Damon and Eric Muinjo are the first &#8220;non-white&#8221; players to join Ramblers.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1983<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The first soccer tour to Germany is undertaken under the leadership of Manuel Coelho.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1985<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers beat Chief Santos 4-0 in the final of the Mainstay Cup captained by Bobby Craddock.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1988<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The second soccer tour to Germany is undertaken under the leadership of Manuel Coelho.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1990<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers legend Joseph Martin scores the first international goal for Namibia against Lesotho<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1992<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers wins the newly formed Namibia Premier League (NPL) under captain Ruli Pahl and<br \/>\ncoach Gary Sales. Other team members like Jorge da Purificacao, Mario Carreira, Mark Kutzner,<br \/>\nTollie van Wyk, Joseph Martin and Dave Fransman play a crucial role in the management and<br \/>\ncoaching of the Ramblers Soccer Section from 1999 to 2014.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1993<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers is the first Namibian representative in the African Champions League and plays<br \/>\nCosta Do Sol in Maputo in Mozambique in front of a capacity crowd of 45,000 spectators with the<br \/>\nreturn leg in Windhoek.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1996<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers is relegated from the NPL.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2000<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers is promoted again into the NPL.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2002<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Windhoek Optics is the main sponsor of Ramblers who together with Civics<br \/>\nare the first post-independence football clubs to pay players incentives\/salaries and<br \/>\nare thus instrumental in paving the way towards semi-professional football in Namibia.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2003<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The third soccer tour to Germany is undertaken under the leadership of Ralf Behrens.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2005<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers wins the prestigious NFA Cup in June. Henrico Botes, who is captain of the Brave Warriors at the time,<br \/>\nis sold to Moroka Swallows. Henrico is currently still actively playing in the PSL and can rightly be<br \/>\nregarded as Namibia&#8217;s most successful professional soccer player, after Collin Benjamin.<br \/>\nIn October Ramblers captain Quinton Jacobs is sold to Ajax Cape Town.<br \/>\nRamblers celebrates it&#8217;s 60th Club anniversary where Henrico Botes and Silke Pennefather, captain of the<br \/>\nNamibian ladies hockey team, are crowned as Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year respectively.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2006<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">NPL runners up.<br \/>\nThe Old Boys of Ramblers visit the World Cup in Germany and play a few friendly matches.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2007<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers win the FNB Cup.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>January 2008<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Michael Pienaar of Ramblers captains the Brave Warriors at the AFCON Championships in Ghana<br \/>\nand in June 2008 together with Lazarus Kaimbi signs professional contracts in South Africa.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>February 2008<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Ramblers Soccer Academy is formed and is soon regarded as the most<br \/>\nsuccessful Academy in Namibia.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Dec-08<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Ramblers Hockey Division disintegrates.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2009<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Lutz Pfannenstiel is Technical Director at Ramblers using Namibia as a platform by becoming<br \/>\nofficial commentator for German TV station ZDF during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (and later official<br \/>\nBBC Champions League Final co-commentator) &#8211;<br \/>\nsubsequently he is known as founder of Global United FC and Director f\u00fcr International Affairs<br \/>\nat Bundesliga Club 1899 Hoffenheim.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2011<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">NPL runners up.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>August 2014<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The NPL Status is sold to UNAM for economic reasons and Ramblers now competes in the Southern Stream First Division.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2014<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers Soccer Academy (u7 &#8211; u17) wins 15 out of a possible 24 gold medals in 5 tournaments.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2015<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers Soccer Academy (u7 &#8211; u17) wins 14 out of a possible 28 gold medals in 5 tournaments.<br \/>\nThe first Academy offspring make it into professional football overseas when Jandja Maharero (USA)<br \/>\nEnnio Hamutenya (Malta) sign contracts overseas. Reggie Willemse had joined the Ajax Cape Town Youth Academy in 2012 already.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers was always predominantly a football and hockey club. Over the years other sports codes joined<br \/>\nlike Waterpolo, Cricket, Striders, Archers,Bass Masters Angling and Fistball but no longer exist and<br \/>\nRamblers is now currently a pure football club boasting its own facilites with two fields and teams<br \/>\nfrom u7-u17, a Social and Old Boys team as well as a first team.<br \/>\nThe Ramblers club house boasts with a range of trophies for competitions that are no longer played including the<br \/>\nhistorical Kommando Pokal, Georges Cup, League Cup, Stoessel Cup and AZ Cup where Ramblers were the last winners.<br \/>\nTrophies from the post-independence era include NPL League Cup (1992 &#8211; Sponsor R\u00f6ssing),<br \/>\nthe NFA Cup (2005-Sponsor NBL) and the FNB Cup from 2007.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2016<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers Soccer Academy (u7 &#8211; u17) competes actively in all tournaments hosted by the respective clubs<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2017<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ramblers Soccer Academy (u7 &#8211; u17) competes actively in all tournaments hosted by the respective clubs, and the inaugural HOPSOL Youth League tournament.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2018<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">6 Ramblers u\/17 players are selected as part of the HOPSOL Black Africa team that participates at the Future Champs tournament, hosted in Johannesburg South Africa.<br \/>\nRamblers Soccer Academy (u7 &#8211; u17) competes actively in all tournaments hosted by the respective clubs, and the inaugural HOPSOL Youth League tournament.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">2019<\/h3>\n<p>On the 10th of April 2019, Ramblers Women&#8217;s Football Team was formed. Claudia Reiter is announced as the very first captain in the team&#8217;s history.
