Soccer Accademy: U9 Winner, St. Georges School Tournament
Published: Jul 06, 2010 - 10:25 AM
Dear parents and boys
Like the famous “Dinner for One” sketch, where it is said “Same procedure as last time?” I can answer “Same procedure as every time!” Yes, our under 9’s did it again and won their third trophy of the year when we participated at the annual St.Georges School tournament.
Like the famous “Dinner for One” sketch, where it is said “Same procedure as last time?” I can answer “Same procedure as every time!” Yes, our under 9’s did it again and won their third trophy of the year when we participated at the annual St.Georges School tournament.
We won 1-0 against K.W.von Maree’s School (goal scored by Edmar “Zulu”), then 5-0 against St.Georges (2 x Sven, Zulu,Vincent and Tuamano) and 1-0 against J.T.L.Beukes (Lucai) and drew 2-2 against Okahandja (2 x Sven) and 2-2 against Nicolaas Witbooi (2 x Sven).
As we were on equal points with J.T.L.Beukes we went into a penalty shot-out which we won 4-3.
Sven Grünewald was also the Top-Goal scorer with 6 goals. WELL DONE BOYS!
Considering the fact that we played the first time 11-a-side the boys adapted well to their positions. Furthermore they played 100 minutes of soccer within 5 hours, so I am sure they will get their “wellness” program from their parents today! -
Well, although I am proud of their achievements it is now my duty to keep them on “earth” and get any “super-stars” attitude out of their heads and thinking that they are now little Ronaldo’s, Kaka’s, Rooney’s etc. We all know what happened to these superstars at the World Cup when the focus is on their INDIVIDUAL skills and forgetting that soccer is a TEAM sport where every one needs every one on the field.
This coming week is NO practice and I all see you then again on Monday 12 July 2010 at 16h30 at the Ramblers field. We will enter 3 teams for our tournament (1 x under 7 and 2 x under 9).
For those who have not made contact with Andrea Grünewald (grunewald.andrea@gmail.com) (Cell 081-2733934) with regards to the catering for our tournament, please do so. Please note that ALL the proceeds will be flowing into the Ramblers Soccer Academy account and thus the youth will benefit.
Rammie Rammie Ramblers, I wish you a productive week!
Coach Ralf
